Science and Innovation Department

The Research Department of Osh State University was established in September 2020 in accordance with the Rector’s. Starting from February 1, 2021, Nurzhamal Nazhimidinovna Kurbanbaeva was appointed as the Head of the Research Department.

 Since August 2, 2023, the Research Department has been renamed the Science and Innovation Department.

Purpose

The main purpose of the Science and Innovation Department is to develop fundamental and applied sciences in priority areas, as well as to support and facilitate scientific research activities.

The department also contributes to the formation of competent, scientifically oriented, and creative professionals in society.

 Tasks

·  The department operates in accordance with the University Charter, as well as on the basis of regulatory legal acts and regulations governing scientific research and the development of the university, in line with academic and research positions.

·  The Science and Innovation Department of Osh State University organizes activities related to determining the internal university ranking based on the results of the academic and scientific activities of the teaching staff. It also conducts organizational work in evaluating and encouraging the academic and scientific performance of faculty members, including the consideration of one-time incentive awards.

·  In order to increase the scientific potential of the university, the department organizes scientific seminars aimed at developing competencies among researchers, lecturers, master’s students, and postgraduate students for conducting research activities.

·  To increase the effectiveness of research work, the department encourages and involves faculty members, PhD doctoral students, master’s students, and postgraduate students in scientific research activities through various forms of stimulation.

·  The department supports projects that contribute to the priority scientific areas of the republic and the region, and provides financial support for such initiatives.

·  It creates favorable conditions for conducting research activities by the university’s faculty members, PhD doctoral students, master’s students, and postgraduate students.

·  It promotes the activation of scientific research within the structural divisions of the university and contributes to the development of their scientific potential.

·  It supports collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects and facilitates joint research activities conducted by university staff.

·  The department monitors the organization and implementation of ongoing projects in order to ensure the publication of research results, the practical implementation of research outcomes, their introduction into production, and the support of initiatives aimed at regional development.

Currently, 177 employees work in the Science and Innovation Department, including:

  • Number of department staff - 9;
  • Number of project executors funded by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic – 33;
  • Number of project executors funded by Osh State University– 125;
  • Number of researchers working outside projects - 10;
